Why is the screen to my laptop totally blank?

You might want to get that checked out. After buying a certain piece for my desktop (a new processor I think), The screen would freeze up and go one color or a small mix of colors after red dots would appear simultaneously. It turns out the fan couldn't keep up with the new processor's heat(the overheating wouldn't let the screen work properly) . Sometimes it would do it on start-up. It could be it's heating too much, a small fan could aid it a bit if that's the problem.
