That would only work if the animal was standing in the road. It wouldn't have any effect on birds that fly out in front of cars and get clipped wings, or when deer bound across the road, they'd only be in front of the car for a matter of seconds and if they misjudge it they practically jump on top of the car's bonnet. That's how a friend of my brother's wrote off his car, when a stag lept across the road and went through the windscreen. This little "device" would have had no effect on that, if anything it would have spooked the animal even more (the stag died).
