How do i make my dog tough? and how often should i run it?

I have a lab/springer mix and we have kind of babied her since she was a pup.. If i even shoot an airsoft gun or talk loud she will get scared and run into a corner or downstairs. She is 2 years old and she has been such a her whole life. I plan to get an alaskan Husky this summer and i live in wisconsin. I have time to take him for a run for about an hour a day. Is that enough?? also, i want him to be a dog that is not scared of guns or four wheelers or any loud things like some dogs i have seen. Please help me on how to make my husky a manly dog and not a little crock of ****... Pardon my French, i just get worked up when i think of my scared little dog.
