How should I deal with this love triangle and friendship? I truly need help!?

My friend and I like the same guy. The guy is also our friend, we are a trio. She has told me that she likes him and that she thinks there is hope that they might go out. Also, some people have given her hope by saying that he likes her because they have seen "the look" on his face when he is around her. Even I was giving her the push before I realized that I want him for myself. He recently told me that he doesn't have any feelings for her. None of them know that I like him. He has given me hints that he likes me and now I'm sure that he likes me because his friend told me. I also found out that he has no intention of asking me out because he wouldn't risk getting rejected and he is afraid it might put a strain in our friendship as trio. How can I tell my friend that he doesn't have any feelings for her? Basically, how can I get this guy without straining our friendship? I hate to see my friend getting hurt. I know she will be hurt when she finds that he doesn't see her that way, I don't know how she will react if I tell her that I like him and that he likes me too. I don't know what to do, do I tell her and how do I do it? I don't want to lose her friendship so please help.
