I downloaded the messenger 9.0 and now i can't get into anything; it won't let me change anything wtf?

i'm pretty much computer illiterate so i don't know how to work this thing. with the messenger menu open it won't let me reduce it. i''m ready to uninstall this thing. is it really better than the old one?
